I've caught several nice fish and have had no problems bringing them to the boat. Overall a good lightweight option for deep crank bait work but wish the eyelets were larger.Ĭomments: I've used this rod several times throwing deep diving crankbaits and it works as good as any cranking rod I've ever used. Eyelets are very small at the tip and bind the FC leader splice knot on occasion. Rod is somewhat soft for a MH and coupled with the moderate taper, a hard pull is needed to set the hook. The rod loads up much nicer, that set up casts better, it's lighter, a true M power rod, the lost goes onĬomments: Bought the MH 7'3" for deep diving crank bait work and paired with a Daiwa Zillion 6.3 and 50lb Power Pro braid. I have this rod paired with a SLX XT reel, and it doesn't hold a candle to my buddy's Daiwa Tatula 7' M glass rod with a Tatula CT. It does not load up well with anything under 3/8oz, and 1/2oz lures feels good, and you can get away with 5/8 in a pinch. My 3 heavy rods are thinner than this, and one of those is glass as well. For a medium power rod, it's an absolute broomstick. As someone said, it's more of a M+ rod, and that is true.

For $99 I'm happy with 2 of the 3 slx glass crankbait rods I've bought, if you like to throw lighter and smaller reaction baits but still want something that can handle bigger fish then these rods are worth trying out for the price.Ĭomments: This rod is awful. Being their glass rods you feel literally everything and I'm a huge believer in moderate action on glass rods giving baits a different action and the added benefit of the glass being super flexible is keeping fish pinned to treble hook baits as well as glass rods can be so sensitive you pull the bait away from the fishes mouth when they strike. The med hvy is a lil stout but is fine for bigger chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and I use it for like dt 16s and dt 20s and it throws them with no problem. I have 3 models, 6 10 med light, 7 foot med and 7 4 med hvy, the 6 10 and 7 foot are great for smaller weight and profile baits, 1/4 ounce spinnerbaits and cranks n the med light can throw really really small stuff up to 1/16. I have dobyns, I have st croix legend glass ($270 rods), hell I even have the greatest glass rod ever made, lamiglass sr705r and for $99 the shimano slx is a pretty decent rod. Comments: I'm a huge glass rod nerd and love throwing reaction baits with trebles.
